Ryu Philip’s Sister Suzie Opens Up About Her Emotional Journey and Mina’s Support
On January 18, a short video titled “Part 2. The Real Reason Why Suzie Unleashed Her Tears” was posted on the YouTube channel “Feel me Couple.” In the video, Ryu Philip’s sister Suzie appeared and reflected on the time spent with her younger brother.
Suzie mentioned, “I look just like how I did in the photos from my twenties,” as she walked side by side with Ryu Philip. With a bright smile, she threw her arm around her younger brother’s shoulder. She then joked, “We’ve gotten so old,” bringing laughter to the scene. The video also showcased footage of Ryu Philip and Suzie from their twenties, drawing attention.
Suzie shared, “Philip and I never really hung out or had fun together,” explaining that her younger brother was always busy. However, she mentioned that she had tried to attend his concerts and make an effort. She also shared, “Philip had to go to the dorms with the other members,” as she fought back tears.
She continued, “The only thing I could do was go to Lotte World when there was a concert,” getting emotional. Suzie expressed, “I didn’t have any memories with my younger brother in my twenties,” adding, “I was lonely.” In response, Mina had prepared musical tickets for both her husband, Ryu Philip, and Suzie.
It wasn’t until the siblings reached their 30s that they finally enjoyed a date together. Suzie confided, “I felt really frustrated while getting surgery at the hospital.” She said, “So many emotions overwhelmed me,” and thanked Mina for arranging the opportunity for her and Philip to watch a musical together.
Viewers of the video responded with comments such as, “Mina’s thoughtfulness for both her husband and sister-in-law is so beautiful,” “Suzie looks so pure in her twenties,” and “I hope Suzie’s twenties were innocent and her thirties will be brilliant.”
Earlier, Mina had been actively supporting Suzie’s weight loss since August of the previous year. With Mina’s help, Suzie successfully managed her diet and exercise, losing 51kg from 150kg to 99kg, which garnered widespread attention. Additionally, Mina fully covered the costs of her sister-in-law’s hernia surgery and medical expenses.
On January 10, Mina appeared on KBS’s morning talk show “AM Plaza” and shared why she helped her sister-in-law with her weight loss journey. She explained, “When my mother suddenly passed away last March, I realized how important health is.”
She continued, “To protect my sister-in-law’s health, I made her quit her job and start working out at my house.” She added, “I gave her a salary, a bonus, and even helped her get a home in Seoul, essentially turning her career into that of a dieter.”
Shim Mina, also known as Mina, is a South Korean singer and dancer who became well-known during the 2002 World Cup before launching her career as a K-pop singer. Ryu Philip, a South Korean model and singer, caught the public’s attention in 2015 when it was revealed he was dating Mina, who is 17 years older than him. Despite her family’s disapproval, the couple married in 2018.
